Girl Anthem Alert! Ariana’s latest hit has had girl power going crazy in the last week with ‘7 Rings’ and we’re totally guilty of doing the infamous ‘bend and snap’ to it all week.
Whilst we are all familiar with the Julie Andrews Sound of Music Original, Ariana put her usual bold spin on it, giving it a fresh and empowering feeling of ownership and independence. What seems like a song about endless bragging about flawless glowing skin, private jets and red bottom heels, Ariana actually inspires and reminds us that we all need to be strong, independent and loving women and that love starts with ourselves!
‘“Been through some bad shit, I should be a sad b*tch. Who woulda' thought it’d turn me to a savage?”
Ariana has never been shy to talk about tough times, highlighting that it isn't the bad times that defines us, but how we evolve from it. We’ve all experienced darker times in our life, but Grande’s words remind us that negativity, trauma, or breakups should not shape and weaken us as individuals, but instead learn from it and become stronger.
‘’I want it, I got it’’
Ariana literally owns it here. She belongs to no one but herself and if she wants something, then she will work hard enough to make sure that she gets it. We applaud your success Ariana! Remember, nothing is owed to us and we all have to put effort in to achieve and get what we want. There is no shame in saying that we want something and we will work harder than ever to get it!
“Who ever said money can’t solve your problems must not have had enough money to solve them”
Ok, so we don’t all have racks stacked up to our arses and sometimes life has other plans for our money, but once in a while there is NOTHING wrong with an innocent spending spree to make those mundane days and life dilemmas a little more worth it. Heck, you’re worth it! We all work hard and if a little self love feels so good, then how can anyone tell us it’s wrong?
‘My smile is beamin’, my skin is gleamin’. The way it shine, I know you've seen it’
Hallelujah! Finally a woman publicly loving herself and showing no shame about it! The world is filled with so much hate (self-hate and towards others) and we are constantly comparing our looks, achievements and lifestyle to others (come on, fess up we know you are guilty of it). Ariana expresses so much self-love in this song, and can we blame her? Women and men need to learn the act of self love and just own it. We all have something that we love about ourselves and that is totally cool!
So next time you hear ‘7 Rings’ take a moment, celebrate girl power, your strength, independence, worth, journey and your favourite thing about you because you are incredible and in the words or Ariana, if you want it, go get it!
